Holidays are quickly fading around here. Week one of two is almost done and though it's not as if I've done nothing during these 5 days, it very much feels like haven't done something.
Things I've meant to do, such as head over to the mainland for a visit, venture up island for the beach and check out the sandcastle competition just haven't come to pass. I dislike feeling like I should be getting the most out of time off. I just haven't put a great effort into planning anything. Now Van is pushed back to next month, we'll head up to the beach in Parksville early next week and sneak in a museum visit somewhere as well.
Now as I've mentioned it's not that we've done nothing. We've passed time (painfully sometimes) tooling around half of the Lake in Langford. The painful part being one the wee two's disgruntlement at being there made for some mental torment. Add the other one taking a spill, then the first having her own fall added some physical pain to the journey. We've puttered around bookstores and video game shops. We've enjoyed specialty hotdogs and floats, had lots of late sleepyhead mornings and later nights.
We got about in the area having a peek in with the people in our neighbourhood. With a nod to the street of seasame, I introduced the two youngest to my favourite characters on said program. We all busted a gut watching the two martians meet a telephone, a leaky faucet, a clock and a book yip yip yip, uh-huh uh-huh.
So on we go making the most of this time off.
